Biography

Michelle Kash is a musician.
Michelle Kash

When Michelle Kash ponders the nature of her music, the New York-born and Los Angeles-based songstress does so by likening it to "a dimly lit room" and "torn lace." Pinned down by her smoky soulful delivery and a personal style somewhere between Debbie Harry and Old Hollywood pinup, these visions crystallize in a sultry and seductive take on pop equally evocative and empowering in its confidence and charisma.

This unfolds across a series of releases for the singer and songwriter.

In 2018 Michelle released her first single, “Smoking Gun”, followed by the release of “Hurt Me”, a lush ballad about admitting a failing relationship. Her vocals float above an orchestral ambience that evokes naked melancholy.

Michelle’s hit single, a cover and reimagining of “Personal Jesus” by Depeche Mode rose to #4 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in 2020. She has been written up in countless music blogs and magazines and is well known in the music scene for her unique tone and a sultry yet poppy sound that appeals to a wide and diverse audience.

In between echoes of cinematic synths, her voice tows the line between a coy croon and a commanding chant on "Personal Jesus," positioning her as a 21st century temptress of the highest order. Her new single Gravity feels like a midnight ride through downtown. It’s a dark pop ride over swells of synth waves and ethereal melodies.

Growing up surrounded by art and creativity, Michelle gravitated toward the language of music and poetry. She played piano and guitar, would act in dramas, and write poetry. It wasn’t until a desert retreat in Utah that Michelle found her voice and decided to further explore her passion for music. She joined the gospel choir at Expansion Church and performed her own music around venues in NY and LA. Michelle hosts her own collective performances in NY and LA, bringing artists together to create beautiful and expressive music. In addition to music, she dedicates her time and resources to the causes that are closest to her heart such as Musicares, the rights of women and girls, and is a fierce advocate for animal rights.

In the end, Michelle forges a lasting connection by way of everything she does. "When I listen to music, I don't feel alone anymore," she leaves off. "I hope listeners walk away with the same feeling."
